Hosting a Tea Party

Tea Parties as Ideal Senior Citizen Activities

Tea parties are a great way for seniors to get together with friends, and even entertain in their Phoenix homes. For many seniors, afternoon tea represents much more than just hot drinks and scones; there are a number of other ways that hosting a tea party can benefit the life of a senior.

• Seniors are able to overcome the trials and tribulations that can come with aging, such as loss of a friend or loved one or an unnerving medical diagnosis. Hosting a tea party creates happy memories and puts them in good spirits

• Seniors can still feel like they’re independent, even if they’re hosting afternoon tea with the help of a caregiver or family member. While hosting a complete dinner party might be too much for them, a tea party requires less preparation and cleanup to hold

• Advance planning can give seniors something to look forward to

• Creating an afternoon tea theme allows them to be creative and imaginative – whether it’s suggesting that guests dress in fun, floppy hats, learning proper tea etiquette, or simply decorating the home; there are benefits to be had all around

• Seniors are given the opportunity to let loose and socialize with their family and closest friends

• It’s an activity appropriate for all ages, so even the grandchildren can be included!

Lovely stuff! I travelled to the UK this summer and had some afternoon tea with scones , and it was so delicious I figured I’d try make my own last weekend. I might have broken a few rules though – I found a site full of random scone recipes here and made 3 different kinds! My friends were so happy when I brought them round for tea and scones, complete with real whipped cream. Great fun!
